What is the "CARDINAL" Lab?The Center for Algorithm Research and Development Including Novel Academics and Learning (CARDINAL) Laboratory will be a place for faculty, students, industry professionals and the general public to learn about high performance computing (HPC)... and have fun.
The CARDINAL lab will specialize in Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) applications, and other parallel computing equipment like Graphics Processing Units (GPUs) and multi-core processors.
Building a Research CommunityThe CARDINAL lab will not be a hidden alcove for soulless experimentation. It will be a vibrant community center for sharing the joy of discovery. Some people may want to just come hang out and see what people are doing, for entertainment.

Wait... Can Engineering be fun?Yes, engineering can be fun. It may be an acquired taste for some people, but anyone can "play" with digital circuitry. If you like building things, and you don't mind if things go haywire every once in awhile, then you already have the right temperament for engineering. If you're a "hacker" and you like to fix things that aren't even broken, then you're a "natural."
